Meet the Team

Browns Hairdressing in Lewes is an independent hair salon dedicated to ensuring you have great hair, whatever your age and lifestyle.

Annette Turner – Owner

Annette has been hairdressing for more than 20 years and is the owner of Browns.

She opened the salon in 2005 and has created a highly-skilled team of stylists in a friendly, welcoming and professional salon.

“The happiness of our clients and my team are the most important things to me. I’ve always loved everything about hairdressing and especially like getting creative in cutting, barbering and wedding hair.”

Jessica Beach

Jessica is Browns’ Artistic Director.  She has been in the hairdressing industry since 2000 and celebrated her 10th year with Browns in 2018.

Jessica has built up a loyal clientele and loves being able to make her clients feel better about themselves.

“I have a passion for cutting where I can show off my versatility and love for creating beautiful soft and natural looks.”

Amy Smith

Amy has been hairdressing since 2005. She started her training with Toni&Guy and is now a qualified Colour Technician, specialising in L’Oréal Professional.

“My strengths are colouring but I love complete restyle as it challenges me technically too. I’ve been part of Browns since 2013 and enjoy being with the team, both in the salon and socially!”

Becky Magee

Becky joined Browns in January 2016 and has been a qualified hairdresser since 2008.

She started her career as a trainee at Rush Hair, where she worked her way up to become a senior stylist, and is experienced in both men and women’s hair.

“I really enjoy colouring and creating new looks,” she says, “and I love meeting new people and making them feel good.”

Laura Fowles

Laura is Browns’ Technical Stylist and has been hairdressing for over 10 years. She’s experienced in all aspects of hairdressing including Men’s Cutting and Wedding hair.

Colouring is a part of hairdressing that Laura most enjoys, creating depth and tone to light and bright colours for all her clients. She loves to see her clients’ confidence grow from the start of their appointment to when she’s finished.

“I love how different every day can be working in a salon.”

Laura is also planning to train to be a trichologist, to learn about hair loss and scalp problems and how we can create the best hair before it’s even visible.

Chloe Milburn

Chloe joined Browns in 2017. She’s currently training to become a hair stylist and is on track to be qualified by mid 2019.

“Whilst doing my training I’ve learnt that I’m ambitious, and it’s made me very excited to start my career as a stylist with the Browns team.”

Julie Awcock

Julie is Browns’ Salon Assistant and has worked at the salon since May 2017.

“I have loved working at Browns from the day I started. As Salon Assistant, I do a little bit of everything; whether it’s answering the phone, washing off a colour or making the tea. Salon life is never boring as our stylists and clients are always cheerful and we always have lots of fun while we’re working!”
